#EventCanvas Development Strategy

The program

WHY?

Create a global common & visual language for Event Design based on the #EventCanvas methodology and practice to enable teams to:

  • consciously design events
  • apply design thinking and doing
  • systematically create events worth attending
  • be engaged & confident with all stakeholder levels
  • across cultures and languages using visual thinking
  • based on the #EventCanvas

WHO?
Target Audience
For people who do not know about events:
A) For strategic leaders who know (and usually have experienced) that events can create fundamental change
B) For Event novices to get to grips with the process of how events create value and how to best contribute in creating that value.

For people who know about events:
C) For Event Managers who are stuck in a treadmill of repeating the motions of delivering events and looking for ways to innovate
D) For Educators who want to learn about a design approach to pull apart the mechanics of how an event goes from inception to delivery and teach it to their students.
E) For professionals who have been involved in events in various ways and now want to take charge of creating an event with a team of people.

 

HOW?

Strategic Objective 1 = Capacity Building

Train #EventCanvas Users

  • Mastery Level 1 (555 trained level 1 User per 31 Dec 2017 = objective to double that to 1100 by 31 Dec 2018)
  • Mastery Level 2  (78 trained level 2 User per 31 Dec 2017 = objective to double that to 150 by 31 Dec 2018)
  • Mastery Level 3 (65 trained level 3 Users per 31 Dec 2017 = objective to double that to 130  by 31 Dec 2018)
  • Certified Event Designer (Level 3 + Proof of Event Design Capability with team within 6 months of completing EDC program) (50 Certified Event Designers per 31 Dec 2017 = objective to double that to 100 by 31 Dec 2018)
  • Level 4 (Ability to train level 1) (8 trained level 4 Users per 31/12/2017 = objective to double that to 16 by 31 Dec 2018)

Train Students / Young Professionals

  • Event Design Certificate Program for Young Professionals (Certified Event Designer Young Professional program)  (120 trained level 1 EDC YP User per 31 Dec 2017 = objective to evolve this 240 CED YP certified students by 31 Dec 2018)

Train Trainers

  • Increase the number of Certified #EventCanvas trainers in multiple geographies
    • Ability to train level 1, 2, 3 = #EventCanvas Creators
    • Ability to Train & Certify Level 4 trainers

 

Strategic Objective 2 = Develop Tools

Tool 1 = #EventCanvas Free Download + language localisation

  • Free #EventCanvas download under Creative Commons 4.0 License Attribution, Non commercial use, No Derivatives
  • #EventCanvas Translations –  Currently in 6 languages.
    • translations currently available:
      • Mandarin (Simplified Chinese)
      • Russian
      • Spanish
      • German
      • Dutch
      • English
      • Farsi
      • French
      • Italian
      • Portuguese
      • Arabic
      • Suomi
    • encourage additional voluntary translations. Instructions available
    • priority languages:
      • Japanese
      • Etc.
    • Completed 31 Dec 2017 = 12 languages
    • Target by 31 Dec 2018 = 12 + 4  additional languages

Tool 2= Event Simulator Facilitation Kit & EventWallpaper – Launched Nov 2015 (http://www.eventmodelgeneration.com/event-team-international-olympic-committee-first-in-using-the-eventcanvas-facilitation-kit/

  • Distribution & marketing to distribute in multiple channels
  • Version 2.0 to be published in January 2018 with enhanced deck of 50 cards in English.
